Weight is a number that tells us little about your health or how your body functions.  Better metrics are VO2 Max and body composition.

V02 max testing or cardiopulmonary exercise testing, is the best assessment of overall health. VO2 testing is important for everyone, not just athletes.  The test can be done running, walking, or cycling. 

A warm-up is done prior to the test. The test consist of progressive increases is workload until certain metrics are met to indicate a valid test.  A cool down period then completed to conclude the test.  The total test time is approximately 45 minutes.  

Test results are reviewed with the physician.  Important information from the test includes: the amount of oxygen your body uses during maximal exercise, heart rate zones, and total calories and proportion of energy coming from fat and carbohydrate at varying levels of exercise.
