Erik Vilen, M.D., FAWM is the co-owner and co-founder of Intuition Health. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and Fellow Academy of Wilderness Medicine.
Dr. Vilen is U.S Army combat Veteran, having enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1998 as a carpentry/masonry engineer. He was the 371st Engineer Group NCO of the year in 2001. Dr. Vilen completed a combat tour in Iraq 2003-2004.
Prior to founding Intuition Health, Dr. Vilen cared for our nation’s heroes at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Vilen started his VA career at the St. Cloud VA HCS in 2014. He served as a primary care physician and then as the sole pain management physician for the St. Cloud VA HCS. He was awarded the St. Cloud VA HCS Physician of the Year in 2019. Dr. Vilen finished his tenure at the VA by serving as the Chief of Primary Care for the Montana VA HCS for three years.
Dr. Vilen’s passion in medicine is metabolic health and regenerative medicine. He understands that each person is unique and treatment plans not specifically tailored to what matters to you and the life you are working toward will fail. Taking the time to understand what matters to you in life, meeting you where you are at, and then journeying with you in a partnership of health is what bring Dr. Vilen professional fulfillment.
Dr. Vilen is grateful to be living in such a wonderful community! He gives back to Helena as a volunteer soccer and baseball coach. He also volunteers as an instructor for Montana Bowhunter Education and the Montana Master Hunter Program.
Dr. Vilen has limited appointment availability during Montana’s fall big game hunting season.
